Conquering the World for Justice Chapter Ten

“Please forgive me!” Sylmae pleads to Vaeri.

“No!” Vaeri says with an indignant tone, crossing her arms.

Why did it turn out like this? I just wanted everyone to get along! All I wanted was to have a nice and relaxing family that doesn’t fight, and gets along well! So why is this happening?! We just went to introduce Sylmae to the girls, then…

“It’s me!” I say in a raised voice, knocking on the wooden door to Vaeri and Alkita’s bedroom.

“Come in!” They reply after taking a few moments to tidy up their things, or at least that’s what I hope they’re doing.

Opening the door, I walk into the big room with two twin-sized beds. The room is something around 10×15 feet large with the roof being nearly 10 feet in the air. I’ve gotten used to the size of the rooms, so it doesn’t really awe me anymore. I don’t understand why it doesn’t surprise me anymore though; I’ve only been in this world for two days! The size of this room would shock nearly anyone in the world that I came from.

“Hi dad!” Vaeri says to me. Hey, stop changing how you address me.

“Hey guys. There is someone I want to introduce you guys to.” I say with a partially faked smile on my face.

“Oh, who could that be?” Alkita says with a curious tone.

“That person is the person who will be my wife, one week in the future.” I say with a nervous expression.

“In a week? What happened to four weeks?” Vaeri asks nervously.

“She decided that she didn’t want to wait due to risks that I might get taken out of the council. I doubt that that will happen, but I understand her concern.” I say happily. “So, without further ado, here she is.” Sylmae walks forward cautiously.

“H-Hello! I’m Sylmae Eleild. I-I’ll be your mother in a few days, s-so I hope that we can get—“ Sylmae stutters, nearly biting her tongue while talking. But, someone just had to cut her off.

“SYLMAE!” Vaeri says, as if her arch nemesis had walked into the room.

“Oh, no.” I say as I grab my face with my hand. “Nononononono. Don’t do this please.”

“H-Hi, Vaeri. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?” Sylmae says with a strained tone. Hey, you’re a princess aren’t you?

“I will never forgive you!” Vaeri says, throwing a pillow at Sylmae. Hey, she’s a princess you know. You can’t just do things like that to her.

“I-I’m truly sorry for what happened to your family. I want you to know that I had no part in that whatsoever.” Sylmae says, nervously shaking as she dodges the pillow.

“I don’t care, I hate the Eleild Royal Family!” Vaeri says, angered but barely holding back tears.

“Please forgive me!” Sylmae pleads to Vaeri.

“No!” Vaeri says with an indignant tone, crossing her arms.

And that’s how we got to where we are now. This is going to take some time isn’t it?

“Vaeri, we used to be friends didn’t we? Please forgive me! I didn’t even know what happened to your family happened until I woke up! I didn’t have any part of that!” Sylmae says. This honestly sounds like she’s pleading for her life. This definitely isn’t something a princess should be doing.

“Wait, you guys used to be friends?” Alkita asks intrigued by what Sylmae just said.

“Yes, we did.” Vaeri replies, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks. “We were kind of close, and I looked up to her as a big sister.” Sylmae’s face brightens whenever she heard that. I guess that made her feel better, seeing as they are only separated by six years of age, they would be close. “But that was before my family was killed and I was sold off into slavery.” Vaeri’s eyes burn with resentment and animosity.

“If… If there is anything I can do to get you to forgive me, I will do it. I don’t want there to be any bad blood between us whenever we become family members. I also don’t like you blaming me for what happened. I didn’t have any say in that, so if you could please forgive me,” Sylmae’s eyes are starting to water, as if she’s losing a loved one.

“It would make me extremely happy. I understand not forgiving my father, what he did was just wrong, but I earnestly want you to forgive me. To be honest, I thought that I would never see you again, but whenever I saw that you were my fiancé’s daughter due to various circumstances, it made me overjoyed to the point where I wanted to cry tears of joy.”

Sylmae wraps her arms around Vaeri, hugging her tightly with tears flowing from her eyes. “Please, please forgive me.” Sylmae whispers into Vaeri’s ear quietly, but loud enough to where I could hear her.

“I-I forgive you.” Vaeri says, starting to cry a little bit as she hugs Sylmae back.

It’d honestly be pretty challenging not to forgive someone after they do that. You’d have to genuinely loath someone to reject that apology. Almost like a certain hero with a shield loathes a certain princess from a story I’ve read before.

“Well, now that you’ve settled that, you’ve yet to meet the oldest child.” I reply, looking towards Alkita. Why did you turn into an owl anyways?

“Hello, Princess Sylmae. I am Alkita.” Alkita says, remaining in owl form.

“Who said that?” Sylmae says, surprised at owl form Alkita talking, but refusing to believe it was the owl.

“I said that” Alkita says as she flies towards Sylmae and lands on her shoulder.

“Ahhhhh!” Sylmae yells out, frightened by Alkita. “Wh-When did the owl get here?!”

“She was here the whole time. That owl is Alkita.” I say with a happy expression.

“Hello! I am Alkita of the Evolved Owl species! Pleasure to meet you!” Alkita says transforming back into human form after flying off of Sylmae’s shoulder. Her face is clearly holding back laughter. To be fair to her, it was a pretty funny reaction.

“I-I see. Pleasure to meet you, too. I hope we can get along in the future.” Sylmae says, barely suppressing a strained face.

“Well then, Princess Sylmae, welcome to our peculiar family!” I say with a giant grin on my face.

“Hey,” Vaeri says with an annoyed look on her face, “what do you mean ‘peculiar’?”

“What I mean by that is that this family is weird. There is an Evolved Owl and Elf daughter, an ‘Ebys’ father, and an Elf wife. Something is definitely peculiar with our family, but that’s okay!” I say with a giant grin as I put my arm around Sylmae’s shoulder. Wait a minute; she’s a princess isn’t she? She sure doesn’t seem like one.

“You know, we aren’t married yet.” Sylmae says bashfully while blushing up to the tips of her ears.

“Oh, don’t be so embarrassed, you’re practically already part of the family!” Alkita says happily.

“You literally just met me for the first time ten minutes ago!” Sylmae says, escaping my arm and moving to the other side of the room while infuriated.

“Yeah, so? Why does that matter? You are clearly a very kind person, and father seems to like you a lot, so that practically makes you our mother already. Besides, you will actually be our mother in about a week, right?” Alkita says with a happy expression.

“What do you mean, ‘father seems to like you a lot?’ Don’t just throw crazy things out there like it’s nothing!” Sylmae says, trying to deny what Alkita says for literally no reason.

“Of course I like you!” I say with a joyous expression. “We get along quite well, not to mention the fact that we’re going to spending the rest of our lives together. I have to try my hardest to make sure this treaty continues on for as long as possible.”

“That’s true, we do need to try our hardest, but that doesn’t deny the fact that you guys are already accepting me into your family after we meet ten minutes ago!” Sylmae says with an angered yet worried expression. “What if I were a spy sent to learn your internal affairs?”

“That fact didn’t even cross my mind! I guess I just trust you a lot. Besides, if that’s true, we’ll deal with it when we get to that point.” I say heartily.

“Hey, that’s a death flag you know,” Vaeri says with a worried expression on her face.

“Be quiet! This is a comedy and adventure series! There’s no action in those genre tags! Also, where did you learn that term?” I say inquisitively.

“How do you know that there’s no death in those genre’s? Adventure series have death’s all the time!” Alkita says, angrily stomping her foot on the ground.

“Be quiet! Just ask the writer!” I said just as angrily.

“I never said people couldn’t die in this series you know. None of you are safe.” The writer says deviously as if scheming something.

“What happened to your fourth wall?” Vaeri says with an annoyed face.

“Oh, fourth wall, schmourth wall. We just need to take a wrecking ball to that thing.” The writer says happily. “I can reconstruct it at anytime! Like right now!”

“Well, that’s not the problem here. The real problem is where Sylmae is going to sleep.” I say worriedly. “It’s not like we have a room ready. It takes a while to prepare a room anyways.”

“Hmm? That’s not a problem I’ll just sleep in your room.” Sylmae says.

“Sleep in my room?! Why would you decide that on your own? Well, it is true that it’s pretty much the only other room that’s ready for someone to sleep in in the house,” I sighed. I guess I’ve got the couch again tonight, huh. I wonder if I’ll ever get to use my own bed.

I say goodnight to Alkita and Vaeri and escort Sylmae to my room. Oh, I just realized, a girl is going into my room. Oh, wait, Kioko slept in my room last night. That doesn’t really count though, I hadn’t moved anything around and there were no other rooms available. Not to mention, Kioko isn’t my fiancé.

I haven’t had time to clean up if I made a mess, make the bed, or anything… Oh, wait. I have maids now, so I guess I don’t have to do that type of thing anymore. This might take longer for me to get used to that I had thought. Though, it’s not like I don’t have a lot of time to get used to this. I don’t even know how I got in this world.

It’s seriously weird how quickly I have been adapting to this situation. Honestly, I have nearly no memories of my time on Earth. I hope they come back soon, though I don’t think that my personality is that different. Normally in stories, people try to get back to their original world, but grow attached to the world and the people in it and decide to stay. I don’t think I’ll follow that until I get my memories back.

For now, let’s just wait for my memories to come back, and decide what to do after that. Other than that, I need already have a high-ranking job in the government, so I need Kioko to teach me about this world and country. This country seems really underdeveloped for some reason. Should I try to develop it further? That might be good, but I don’t have too much knowledge since I was in my second year of high school. Well, looking at it like that, I probably have more knowledge than them, so I’ll be okay.

While I was thinking to myself, Sylmae was talking about something random, probably about the size of my house, until we finally reached my bedroom. Opening the doors, I walk in. Sylmae’s footsteps don’t follow, so I’m a little worried. Turning around, I see Sylmae’s eyes wide open.

“What is with the size of this room?!” Sylmae says in awe. Walking into the room, she keeps looking around at the large, empty room. “This is bigger than father’s room at the Royal Palace!”

Wait, really? Just how big did that guy want this room? I did think that it was an excessively large room, but I thought that the Eleild Royal Palace would have a larger room for the king. Walking up to the bed, Sylmae is doubly shocked.

“This bed is larger than father’s too!” Sylmae says with a surprised face.

“You’re joking, right? Aren’t king’s and queen’s beds known for their ability to hold several more people than necessary?” I say with awe running across my face.

“I can’t believe it either! I didn’t think that anyone could have a larger bed than father!” Sylmae says ecstatically.

Just how many people can fit on that bed anyways? Five? Ten? I don’t know anymore, I just don’t care. Grabbing the blanket, I lie down on the couch and start to fall asleep.

“What are you doing?” Sylmae asks.

Sitting back up, I say, “Isn’t it obvious? I’m going to sleep on the couch.”

“Why would you do that?” Sylmae asks, confused.

“Why do you even need to ask that? I’m giving you the bed.” I say with a slightly angered tone. I mean, I was halfway to dream land whenever she woke me up.

“Why would you do that? Shouldn’t we both use the bed?” Sylmae asks, tilting her head to the left.

Just how sheltered are you? This is the normal gentleman thing to do.

“Of course we can’t both use the bed. We aren’t married. That’s why I’m giving it to you.” I say, turning back around while pulling the blanket over our head.

“True, we aren’t married, but we are fiancés you know. I see nothing wrong with it.” Sylmae says with a smile.

“There’s quite a lot wrong with it, but I’ll just leave it at that. Seriously, you must’ve been really sheltered…” I trail off.

Closing my eyes, I slowly start to flow into dreamland, whenever all of the sudden, I feel someone behind me. I’m too tired to deal with it though, so I’ll just have to deal with it later. Thankfully, today was Friday, so I have time to learn about this world and country tomorrow.

That is, if I’m not stopped by Sylmae tomorrow to go over the announcement dinner and wedding planning. I don’t think that it should take too long though. I wonder how everything is going in the other world. Hmm, wait; I don’t remember the other world that much, so why am I wondering about that?

Seriously, the person behind me is really keeping me up. I can’t fall asleep. It’s too uncomfortable. They just keep moving around. It’s impossible fall asleep like this. They’ve somehow wrapped their arms around me and are hugging me. And it’s not a light hug. It hurts.

Turning around, I see Sylmae’s face and her grey eyes staring back at me.

“Hello. How are you doing?” Sylmae says, eyebrows twitching in embarrassment of failure.

“Oh, I’m doing good. Just trying to fall asleep. You know, the weirdest thing is happening right now.” I say with a wrathful smile. “I’m sure that I had told you to sleep on the bed and that I was going to take the couch several times. So why are you on the couch with me?!”

“Tsk, I was sure you were asleep.” Sylmae says, snapping her fingers in a really cheesy way. You’re admitting your failure!

“You are a princess! Moreover, the princess who will takeover the throne whenever your father dies! You should have more modesty!” I yell in an outburst of rage.

“Fine, fine. I’ll take the bed, and you can have the couch.” Sylmae says, getting up and walking towards the bed.

I’m finally able to get to sleep after an eventful night. But when will I get to sleep on my own bed?!
